The Board of Directors has elected Dick Rochester to be the next Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Radiometrics Corporation. Michael Exner, former CEO, will remain Chairman of the Board of Directors and continue to play an active role in corporate and new product development.
Radiometrics Corporation manufactures microwave radiometers. Microwave radiometers are ground based remote sensing instruments used by governments and companies around the world to sense the real-time temperature, humidity and liquid profiles of the earth’s lower atmosphere, or “boundary layer”. The atmospheric profiles generated by the company’s products provide meteorologists with a unique source of information critical to accurate, high-impact local weather forecasting for emergency management services, utility load forecasting, renewable energy and clean-tech sectors, aviation, air quality monitoring and water management. In January 2012, Radiometrics partnered with Earth Networks to develop the Earth Networks Boundary Layer Network (ENBLN), a network of more than a hundred profiling radiometers that will monitor the boundary layer across the United States.
“Dick is the person to manage the rapid growth Radiometrics is experiencing. He brings 30 years of leadership, product development experience, and technical background in high reliability systems,” says Michael Exner. “The company is ready to transition to his management leadership, giving me the opportunity to focus more on continued product improvements and strategic planning”.
Promoting Mr. Rochester to CEO is a continuation of the changes Radiometrics initiated over a year ago to position the company for much higher growth and accelerated product development. This appointment is the most recent organizational change undertaken to better position the company to manage increasing demand for its products and services. Radiometrics also recently added Dr. Victor Markin to the staff as Director of Engineering. Dr. Markin brings over 30 years of academic and practical experience in microwave radio hardware design. And Marta Nelson, a meteorologist, has recently joined the team at Radiometrics to assist customers and to assist engineering in developing new software for commercial applications.
“Given the increasing awareness of weather on our daily lives, and the acceptance of microwave radiometers as a cost-effective and accurate instrument for boundary layer profiling, our company is projected to grow significantly in the next few years,” says Dick Rochester. “These are exciting times at Radiometrics!”
Radiometrics Corporation is a closely held private corporation based in Boulder, Colorado. The company has pioneered commercial ground-based thermodynamic microwave radiometry for over two decades. With more than 300 microwave radiometers in operation worldwide, the company is the world leader in ground based microwave radiometer product innovation and sales. Rugged, compact, and reliable, Radiometrics’ thermodynamic profilers observe the boundary layer temperature, humidity and liquid water that define local weather. Patented designs ensure optimum long-term, all-weather performance for operational and research applications.
