Radiometrics Management Team

MANAGEMENT
A strong management team has been built to pursue larger scale markets. The team brings together some of the worlds’ most experienced and highly regarded talent in the field of microwave radiometry.

Dr. Fredrick Solheim – President
Dr. Solheim has served as President since January 2007 and is in charge of developing new applications for existing technology, creating new radiometer designs to meet customer needs and tracking developments in the field of radiometry. Having joined Radiometrics in 1989 as a managing scientist he was quickly elevated to President where he served until 2003. Solheim is an inventor or co-inventor on seven patents with three under current application. He is responsible for the creation and development of the profiling radiometer line of products as well as a number of proprietary systems and methods associated with Radiometrics products and their calibration.
Prior to Radiometrics, Dr. Solheim was the owner of Dakota Ridge Aircraft from 1973-1985. This company produced airborne meteorological equipment. Also from 1977 to 1980, he served as the Vice-President of Aero Systems, which developed, fabricated, and flew airborne meteorological sensing systems for agencies, such as NOAA and the Bureau of Reclamation, as well as state and foreign governments. Dr. Solheim has a PhD in Geophysics, an MS in Astrophysics and a B.S. in Engineering Physics, all from the University of Colorado.

Dr. Randolph “Stick” H. Ware – V.P. Sales & Marketing
Dr. Randolph Ware has served as V.P. Sales and Marketing and Chief Scientist since January 2007, as President of Radiometrics from 2003 to 2006 and is the founder of the Company. Dr. Ware has broad experience in microwave remote sensing of the atmosphere, having founded and led research organizations and programs focused on GPS sensing of the atmosphere. Dr. Ware served as Director of the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) GPS Science & Technology program from 1998-2004 and as Director of the University Navstar Consortium (UNAVCO) from 1984 to 1998.
Dr. Ware was Director and Principal Investigator of the UCAR GPS/MET satellite program from 1991-1998. The GPS/MET program pioneered GPS limb sounding of the atmosphere and evolved into the current 6-satellite COSMIC international atmospheric remote sensing program. Dr. Ware’s research group at UCAR pioneered ground-based GPS remote sensing of atmospheric water vapor in 1991. From 1985-1991, Dr. Ware served as a Science Fellow of the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) from 1984-1991. Dr Ware was a founder and director of the Boulder Brewing Company, which was a pioneer in the microbrewery revolution. The business was taken from a simple “goat shed” to a multi-million dollar facility that was sold in 1987. It is now the oldest and one of the most successful microbreweries in the state of Colorado. Prior to the Boulder Brewing Company, Dr. Ware was a lecturer at the University of Colorado Physics Department from 1974-76. Dr. Ware has a PhD from the University of Colorado in Nuclear Physics, an MS in Physics from the University of Colorado, and a BS in math, chemistry and physics from the University of Colorado.

There he participated in a variety of projects developing electronics for medical applications.
From 1998 to 2004, Mr. Beaty was employed by Colorado Medtech, Boulder, Colorado as an Engineer responsible for the technical management of the engineering team that developed a line of solid state RF amplifiers used in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). From 1982 to 1998, Mr. Beaty held several positions with Erbtec Engineering, Boulder Colorado. His responsibilities included managing a team of engineers and the design and development of various electronic products.

Michael Exner – Special Projects
Mr. Exner currently leads Special Projects for Radiometrics Corporation. Since joining Radiometrics in July 2002, Mr. Exner has reorganized the manufacturing and engineering teams and processes, expanded the manufacturing plant, and modernized the product line for better performance and lower manufacturing cost.

From 1998 to 2002, Mr. Exner provided consulting services, DBA Business and Technology Consulting. The principle client during this period was Avidyne Corporation, an avionics OEM. Mr. Exner provided business case analysis and top-level product design for several Avidyne products, some of which are now in production.

Mr. Exner served as the first COSMIC Systems Manager and CoPI for the COSMIC Project (Constellation Observing System for Meteorology, Ionosphere and Climate) at UCAR (University Corporation for Atmospheric Research). Prior to the start of COSMIC in August 1997, Mr. Exner served for five years as Program Manager and Co-PI for the GPS/MET Program at UCAR. Prior to joining UCAR in 1993, Mr. Exner was Vice President, Advanced Communications at Orbital Sciences Corporation (OSC) where he focused on new business development. From 1989 to early 1993, Mr. Exner was also a private consultant to a number of clients, including: start-up companies, established companies, and government agencies.

In 1988, Mr. Exner established American Mobile Satellite Corporation (AMSC) on behalf of eight competing applicants seeking FCC authorization to provide MSS. He represented Skylink Corporation (see below) on the AMSC Board until AMSC was licensed in 1989 by the FCC to be the first domestic provider of Aeronautical, Land, & Maritime MSS throughout the U.S.A. In 1982, Mr. Exner founded Skylink Corporation with the goal of establishing the world's first commercial MSS. Mr. Exner raised over $10M in financing for Skylink. Mr. Exner founded Synergetics International, Inc. in 1977.
